EPDItaly, in collaboration with Agricooltur, has created the first Product Category Rule (PCR) dedicated to the agricultural sector, an important step toward sustainability for the entire industry. PCRs are a key tool for companies that want to assess and communicate the environmental impact of their products in a transparent and comparable way.
Agricooltur, a leading company in aeroponic cultivation, has worked with EPDItaly to create the first PCR aimed at agricultural and forestry machinery and is the first company in its field to have requested the publication of a core PCR on aeroponic cultivation systems.
The collaboration marks the beginning of a path to sustainability for the agricultural sector, which is responsible for 9 percent of greenhouse gas emissions in the European Union. Aeroponic cultivation, developed by Agricooltur, enables dramatic reductions in pesticide use and greater efficiency in agricultural processes.
Aeroponics is an innovative cultivation method that allows plants to grow out of the soil. Roots are sprayed with water and nutrients in a completely controlled environment that almost completely reduces the spread of pests and diseases typical of growing in the ground, without having to use insecticides or pesticides that are potentially harmful to human health, plants and the environment. In addition, indoor cultivation allows for extraordinary results in terms of speed, quantity and, above all, quality.
EPDItaly, as an Italian Program Operator accredited by Accredia, continues to support the development of new PCRs, helping companies implement sustainable strategies and strengthen their competitiveness in the global market.
