Interview with Marco Spinelli – Operation Manager of Union Foam Spa

What are the main reasons that pushed you towards the voluntary EPD certification?

Having the opportunity to objectively communicate how our company is willing to improve its production with a view to environmental sustainability.

Which product of your company has obtained the EPD? What are its main features?

The EUROBATEX product range and, very recently, EUROBATEX HF. These insulating products have as their focus energy saving and therefore less environmental pollution and a reduction in the waste of resources.

What are the main advantages obtained from the publication of the Environmental Product Declaration? What are the repercussions on the final consumer?

The advantages are positioning in the market with a product that becomes aware of the problems relating to environmental impacts and that keeps the production cycle under control by limiting unnecessary consumption, waste and waste. The consumer using Union Foam products is aware that he is buying and using a high quality product that has been produced taking into account the possible repercussions on the environment and through the LCA study allows to improve the product annually in the direction of eco-sustainability.

Do you think that EPDItaly can contribute to spreading the culture of product sustainability?

Surely. EPDItaly deals with environmental sustainability issues with approved competence and at 360 ° and also has good visibility even at an international level thanks to mutual recognition agreements with the main Program Operators, as well as thanks to its membership in the ECO Platform circuit

How important, in your opinion, is the presence of sustainable Italian products within a Program Operator that makes the international network one of its strengths?

We think it is fundamental as Northern European culture has always been at the forefront in terms of environmental sustainability and therefore Italian companies can count on trusted partners. It also opens the way for an international debate on issues that have become increasingly important and urgent today.
